North Norfolk Railway Photos 2008.

The 2008 Winter Period
Three seperate updates here, of shorter visits to the NNR over the winter period. All the Photos were taken on my new Canon 450D, which I upgraded too after a few very successful years with the Olympus Fz7 Most recently, a visit on the 26th of December to see the re-entry into traffic of Stalwart 0-6-0ST 1982 'Ring Haw.' A very frequent performer in my early years visitng the railway, i was amazed to find that i have no lineside photographs of the loco, and indeed haven't seen it since 2003. It's return to traffic was certainly very welcomed on my part! After that a visit to see the Santa Specials on the 22nd of December. The N7 hauled the majority of services this year, and photographed here are the 12:15 and 2:45 departures. The final set of shots were taken on the 11th of November, showing the Diesel Railbus on the reprised 'Blue' service Finally, may I wish you all a belated Happy Christmas, and a safe + happy 2009.

Saturday 27th September
Choose to spend a few hours at the NNR today. The wonders of the norfolk climate were fully exhibited - notice the diffrence between the shots of the 12:00 and 13:30 trains! The WD and Class 25 25027 were in operation. This is the first time i had seen the '25' run for quite a while, and it was nice to be re-aquainted.

2008 Steam Gala, 29th - 31st August
The steam gala was blessed with surprisngly good weather over the course of the three days. Another intense and exciting timetable was put together, with lots too view beyond 'normal' passenger workings, including extensive shunting and double-heading. Locos running were the home fleets' J15, Dub-Dee and N7, complete with visiting Western Tanks, 1638 and 5643.
'Friday'

'Saturday'

'Sunday'

Monday 25th August 2008
Bank Holiday Monday brought some rather uninspiring weather, but with sunshine forcast, i headed down to the NNR to photograph the new arrivals prior to Fridays gala event. 16xx No. 1638 is on loan from the Kent and East Sussex line, whilst 5643 is visiting for the 2nd time from the Furness Railway Trust. Whilst not having the immediate glamour of locos such as Black Prince, both locos certainly seemed to have large numbers of people interested in them.

Saturday 12th / Sunday 13th July 2008
The public launch of the Quad set was held over this weekend. On the Saturday evening a photocharter was run in stunning lighting. Thanks to all involved in it, both on the train and organising it 'from the field.'

Thursday 19th June 2008
Today was a momentous day in the history of the North Norfolk Railway, with the redidication of the unique Quad Art set The set was restored at WCRC's workshops and was out-turned in immaculate (almost too good!) condition. They are a real credit to all who have worked on them, and those behind the project. More can be found on the M&GN society website

Saturday 3rd May 2008
First visit to the NNR in a little while. With the N7 off to Kent, services were left to the two working steam locomotives 90775 and 65462. Unfortunatly, 90775 failed half way through the day, leading to the Class 25 filling its diagram. Also included are two photos of 5224 that i forgot to upload, taken on 8th April.

Tuesday 25th March 2008
Today i spent doing a 'TTI' turn on the NNR on the DMU. I also had a chance to take a few photos of 5224 as the trains passed at Weybourne.

Friday 21st March 2008
Having been blessed with good weather over the past couple of Easters, a bad one was perhaps inveitable. On a very stormy Good Friday, i came across for the morning to see the developments at Holt, as well as visiting 2-8-0t 5224 from the NYMR. It has come to the NNR on a brief 'swap' with the J15, attending their LNER Festival, which I shall be attending next weekend.

Sunday 10th February 2008
After yesterdays sucesses, I spent the afternoon down the railway again, once again seeing the J15 running a 'green' service.

Saturday 9th February 2008
The first photos of the 2008 season. Beautiful weather today, and the J15 running the services.
I also walked up the line to see the work undertaken by the lineside clearance work.
Whilst not useable today due to shadows, there are several shots that have been opened up for use later in the year.
A big thank you to all who contributed.
